Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi began the year on a good note with Premier League high flyers Leicester City as he grabbed his first assist of the campaign to propel them to an impressive 3-0 win away at the St James Park, AOIFootball.com reports.
Having impressed on matchday 20, striker Kelechi Iheanacho kept his place in the starting XI with the Nigerian trusted to the lead the line in back to back games for the Foxes in over a year in the Premier League.
The visitors needed to wait till the half-hour mark to get going when Iheanacho forward partner Ayoze Perez stunned his former Club when he opened scoring on 36 minutes.
The Spaniard was also on the ground three minutes later when he turned provider for James Maddison with the midfielder making no mistakes to give the Foxes a 2-0 lead going into the break.
Iheanacho was then replaced by Damarai Gray after the hour mark before Ndidi capped off a perfect new year for the Champions League chasers when he set up substitute Hamza Choudhury three minutes from time to seal a comfortable 3-0 win.
Ndidi earned a game rating of 7.5, completing 88% of his passes, winning 12 duels and also making 5 whilst, whilst Iheanacho finished the game on a rating of 6.4 having just managed 1 shot on target.
The win sees the Foxes maintain their grip on a top 3 finish as they moved up to 45 points but stay a distant 10 points adrift runaway leaders Liverpool.
