Nigerian international, Azubuike Okechukwu is expected to return to training next month from a knee injury he suffered towards the end of the 2019/2020 season with Istanbul Basaksehir, AOIFootball.com reports.

The 23-year-old recently put pen to paper on a 3-year deal following a successful loan spell with the Turkish League champions and will now resume full training in October with the player set to miss the start of the new campaign.

Speaking to AOIFootball.com, the former Pyramid FC of Egypt defender stated that he has already started working with the club’s physio and hopes to get strong soon to return to action.

“My tendon is well but still not strong yet. So Im still with the physio to build a stronger tendon through exercises.

“Its not been easy for me but God has been faithful to me,” Azubuike said.

Istanbul Basaksehir will start the defense of the title they won last season away at Hetayspor with Azubuike hoping to be back fully after the international break in October.
