Super Eagles and Arsenal FC forward Alexander Iwobi has expressed delight after winning the CAF Youth Player of the Year Award 2016.

Iwobi clinched the award by beating Eric Ayiah of Ghana and Sandra Owusu-Ansah who plays for Ghana and Supreme Ladies FC.

The Eagles forward took to his official twitter handle to say: “Honoured To Be Awarded The CAF Youth Player of the Year In 2016. Hoping For More Success In The Future.”

Iwobi has enjoyed recent successes with both club and country, scoring his first goal for Nigeria in a World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Ndola in October and has followed up with two goals and three assists in the English Premier League for Arsenal this term.

Iwobi, 20, marked his maiden Premier League start for Arsenal with a goal against Everton in March last year, keeping his place in the first team until the end of the 2015-16 Season.

He was recently named among a list of best 100 players in the world.
