Arsenal Ladies forward Asisat Oshoala has joined Chinese Women Super League Champions, Dalian Quanjian, according to the official page of the Gunners.
Oshoala joined Arsenal Ladies FC from rivals Liverpool in 2015 and featured eleven times for the London-based outfit, scoring twice and winning the Women’s FA Cup in the same year.
A statement released on Arsenals’ website read:
“Asisat Oshoala has left Arsenal Ladies to join Chinese team Dalian Quanjian.
“Oshoala joined the club at the start of the 2016 FA WSL season and made 11 appearances for Arsenal Ladies, including the SSE Women’s FA Cup win at Wembley Stadium.”
“Asisat was recently awarded the African Women’s Player of the Year and was part of the Nigerian team that won the African Women’s Cup of Nations in December 2016.”
“We would like to thank Asisat for her contribution to Arsenal Ladies during the 2016 season and wish her well in her upcoming move, which is subject to the completion of the player registration process”, the club said.
The current African Women’s player of the year is expected to earn about seven times what she earned at Arsenal Ladies.
