Former Nigeria FIFA U-17 World Cup winning coach, Manu Garba has come out to clear the air on a statement credited to him recently in the Nigerian media.
Garba was quoted to have said that Manchester City Coach, Pep Guadiola has betrayed Super Eagles’ striker Kelechi Iheanacho, as a result of the former not giving the later enough playing time.
The coach, who was Iheanacho’s coach at U-17 and U-20 levels, has however rejected statements credited to him in the Nigerian media.
“I did not even speak to anybody in the Nigerian media, talk less of talking about Kelechi Iheanacho. I said nothing of such” explained Garba.
Speaking further, Garba said he does not even talk to the players who played under him because “95% of players you trained will not even remember to put a call to you when they are in Europe. Sometimes though, I advice some of them but I don’t discuss a player who is in his club” Garba added.
This is reminiscent of Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr also complaining about being quoted wrongly in the Nigerian media.
