Super Eagles Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr is expected back in the country next week as he returns to closely monitor the progress of home based stars in the Nigeria Professional Football League, the Franco-German has revealed.

The Super Eagles had just one home-based player, goal keeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, from FC Ifeanyiubah, for the two friendlies, and with the impressive performances of players like 3SC’s Sunday Faleye, MFM’s duo of Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatunbosun, Katsina United’s Destiny Ashadi amongst many others, it has caused many football pundits to question the reason why more home-based players were not good enough to feature for the Eagles.

But in a swift practical reaction, Coach Rohr, says he is coming back to really keep an eye on the NPFL players as he continues to build a formidable squad that will have both home and foreign based players.

“I’ll be back in Lagos next week to watch some NPFL games & see some of our home stars in action as we continue to plan ahead.” Rohr said.

The Super Eagles face Bafana Bafana of South Africa next in an Africa Cup of Nations 2019 qualifier in June.
