Jamiu Alimi of Kano Pillars has fired a strong warning to all league contenders that his team is poised to fight for the NPFL trophy this season.

Alimi rued his team’s home draw in the their last NPFL game where the Sai Masu Gida Boys were forced to a 1-1 draw by their recent nemesis, Nasarawa United.

The defender, however believes the draw is part of football where a team either wins, draws or loses.

The Nigeria international was however quick to warn their next opponents El-Kanemi Warriors, that they will not lose this weekend.

“We are all expecting a good result against El-Kanemi because we’re not expecting to lose the game. It’s going to be very dangerous for us to lose,” said Alimi.

Talking about Kano Pillars’ chances of winning the league this season, Alimi believes his team will give the necessary fight for the trophy as it has become part of their tradition to compete for the title.

“Everybody knows that Pillars always fight for the trophy; well, that is our aim too for this season”.

With an outstanding match, Kano Pillars currently occupy 4th position on the NPFL log after 15 games, 6 points behind league leaders, MFM FC.
