Former Confederation of African Football (CAF) President,Issa Hayatou has been handed appointment as Cameroon Football Academy Board Chairman.

This was through announcement made by the Head of State Paul Biya on Friday, making him part of the academy administration that will deal with all matters of  youth football in the country.

In an interview with the state television CRTV, Hayatou was pleased with the appointment where he assured the country that he will use his over 30-year experience in international football to boost the academy.

Hayatou’s appointment comes after Indomitable Lionesses coach Karl Enow Ngatcho, who steered the team to Africa Women Cup of Nations semi finals in January this year, was appointed as the pioneer General Manager of the academy.

Issa Hayatou  was defeated by Madagascar’s Ahmad Ahmad in elections that took place in March this year.

Hayatou, who was in charge at CAF for 29 years, was seeking an eighth term.
