Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr is positive that his boys will kick-off their AFCON qualifier with a resounding win against South Africa on Saturday, declaring that it was time for Nigeria to return to Africa’s top football fiesta.
AOIFootball.com reports that Rohr, who has remained unbeaten since he took over from former coach, Sunday Oliseh in August 2016, is plotting his victory against the Bafana Bafana.
“It’s important to win the first game of course, because when you have the right way, it would be good for the qualifiers”, Rohr said at a media parley in Uyo.
Speaking on how he is going to approach the game against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, Rohr said:
“The strategy is what we did in the last victories; we won’t change what was good, so we have our organization, we have our new players who are coming in, we had little time to work together because we made two friendlies and so I think we can be ready. We hope the crowd will be the 12th player just like they did against Algeria and the other game against Tanzania. It is a new competition now, it’s for the AFCON, Nigeria missed it two times, now the time has come to return to the AFCON,” Coach Rohr told team sponsor, aiteogroup.com after the Super Eagles closed-door training session at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
