Akwa United Coach, Abdul Maikaba, has said that his team are best positioned to clinch this season’s NPFL title because of the level of progress they have made so far.

Maikaba, who spoke exclusively to, said that league leaders, Plateau United and second placed MFM FC are now within the reach of the Uyo-based club, as they have worked overtime to reduce the wide points margin to 5 and 3 points, respectively.

“I must start by saying that I am really happy with the level of progress made by my team already this season, and I believe that the progress is down to the commitment the players have shown so far.

“We now have a high chance of clinching the title at the end of the season.

“I can say without mincing words that we have now caught up with MFM and Plateau United, reducing their leads from 13 points to 3 points, which means that we are already there and set to clinch the title,” Maikaba said.
