Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Salisu Yusuf, has revealed that the technical crew did a thorough job in the selection of players for the African Nations Championship qualifier against either Benin or Togo next month, can report.


The Nigeria Football Federation released a list of 30 top players for the qualifier, and Yusuf says the selection was based on merit. According to the coach, the players were selected based on current form, consistency and experience.


“All the players we selected, were picked on merit. We can’t have a perfect list. WE joggled from over 45 in the initial list before we arrived at this number. We will see how we can work with them and bring out their best,” the former Kano Pillars gaffer told


Speaking further, Yusuf stated that the team is expected to start camping on July 16th but the choice of camp venue is still being worked on by the Nigeria Football Federation.
