Wolverhampton Wanderers has confirmed that Super Eagles’ shot stopper, Carl Onora Ikeme, who was recently diagnosed with acute leukemia, will retain his ‘No.1’ jersey for the new season, reports.

The 31-year-old Nigerian has received pouring support across the world following the discovery of the ailment that will keep him out of football for a while, and has already began chemotherapy.

In a bid to support his treatment, his club announced that Ikeme will retain the number one shirt this season and fans will be invited to show support when they lock horns against Middlesbrough in the opening game of the season.

The club further revealed that they intend to work closely on fundraising with Cure Leukemia to show support for Carl and raise awareness.
