Independent chairperson of the board of the Nigeria women professional league (NWPL) Aisha Falode has said the issue of poor officiating in the league is beyond the control of her board.

Falode who spoke to in Lagos, said “ It is the duty of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Referees body to appoint referees for the women league. And whatever happens during our matches we report back to the NFF for action. We do not have control over who they appoint and who is not appointed. ”

The former member of CAF Women football development committee posited that all incidents of bad officiating have been noted by the board and they are holding discussions with the appropriate authorities for necessary action.

She was hopeful that most of the match officials found wanting will not be engaged for matches in the league in the future, adding that the league has been a huge success compared to previous years and there will be a Super 4 to determine the winner in September.
