Mutiu Adepoju, former Super Eagles captain

Former Nigeria international, Mutiu Adepoju has said that the CHAN Eagles know what is at stake in this weekend’s CHAN 2018 qualifier second leg game in Kano. Adepoju, who rued the result of the first leg tie in Cotonou, said the coaching crew and players need no one to tell them what to do in the reverse fixture, haven lost the first leg in Benin.

‘The Headmaster’, as he was fondly called in his playing days, told that he is sure Nigeria is going to qualify for CHAN by winning the upcoming game in Kano, stressing that the players and coaches of the home-based Eagles must bear in mind that Benin is not coming to Nigeria to lose and will give the Eagles a run for their money, after they scored their winner in the first leg in the dying minutes.

“The players know what is at stake in this game, and they need no one to tell them how to approach it.

“The technical crew also knows that a win will guarantee Nigeria a place in next year’s CHAN, and I believe they will handle this game with all seriousness. They conceded at the last minute in Benin and I believe that coming home, they are going to correct that mistake.

“I am sure we are going to qualify for CHAN. I believe the coaches are going to put up the best tactics that will neutralise any threat from Benin, because they don’t hope to come here and lose,” he concluded.
