Finnish club, KuPs have announced they have agreed a transfer fee for former Super Eagles’ defender, Azubuike Egwuekwe with a South African club, reports AOIFootball.com.
Managing Director of Kuopio Palloseur Jarmo Heiskanen disclosed that Azubuike was an excellent player in Veikkausliiga and he served as a good example with the club.
Egwuekwe represented Nigeria at the 2014 World Cup and played a total of 35 games. The lanky defender moved to Kuopio for the 2016 season. Five goals were born in the season, but this season did not succeed.
“We want to be known as a club where players can move forward and I believe that the transfer of Azu to a larger series will help us succeed in our goal. We also really want to succeed, and Egwuekwen’s transfer made it possible for us to find him a high-quality substitute (Igor Cheminava),” said Jarmo Heiskanen.
KuPS is currently the fifth in Veikkausliiga, with only five points for a single-match-packed series from FC Lahti.
