Akwa United Coach, Abdul Maikaba has said that things have been difficult for his team away from home this season, despite the fact that they are working very hard in the games that they’ve lost away from home.

Maikaba rued the misfortunes of Akwa United on the road, saying that they did not deserve to lose some games away from home, especially against Sunshine Stars and FC Ifeanyi Ubah.

The Kano state born tactician told only that the eight players his team lost in this second half affected their performance and hampered their progress a bit, and made it difficult for his team to cope at the beginning of the second round.

“We lost eight players at a point in the second round – Ebiye and Christian Pygbara both got contracts in Norway, Harmony Ikande got a contract in Romania, and four of our players are with the CHAN Eagles.

“Losing all this players makes it very difficult and anybody can imagine the effect of their absence. But even without them we have been winning some games away.

“If you see the manner in which we lost some of the games away from home, you will sympathise with us because we really worked hard but yet didn’t win. Like against Ifeanyi Ubah we were given an undeserved red card in the first 45 minutes and everybody saw what transpired in our game against Sunshine Stars. Everywhere we go away from home it’s difficult, and I don’t know why,” Maikaba lamented.
