Home-based Super Eagles and Lobi Stars’ striker, Kingsley Eduwo, has blamed ill-luck on the inability of the team to score goals at the ongoing WAFU Cup in Ghana.

The Salisu Yusuf-led team have failed to score a single goal in their two group games of the competition, prompting fans to question the selection process of the squad by the coach.

Eduwo, who spoke with from Ghana, has defended the coach, whilst attributing their inability to score goals to bad luck.

“If you watch us closely, we have not been playing badly as we have a very good squad. We go into every game with a mindset to win but luck as not been on our side; we even scored a goal in our last match that was wrongly canceled, but we promise Nigerians that we will win our last match,” Eduwo assured.

The big striker also posited that what the team needs now are prayers and encouragement for them to do well against Ghana.

“All we need to do now is to pray for luck, because our game against Ghana is a must-win and definitely, for us to win, we must score,” Eduwo added.

Nigeria must beat the Ghana in their last group game to stand any chance of making the semifinals of the sub-regional tournament.
