Enyimba FC winger, Ezekiel Bassey has joined Iranian top side, Paykan FC on a year deal, can report exclusively.

The former Akwa United speedster was with Spanish giants FC Barcelona on a six-month loan deal from Enyimba FC last season but could not tie down a permanent deal.

Bassey confirmed the move to Paykan in an exclusive chat with, insisting he had to take the decision to head to Iran in a bid to kickstart his international career.

“Iran is number one in Asian FIFA rankings and they have qualified already for the World Cup. The competitiveness here is huge. The truth is that the intensity here is very high and demanding.

“It is a great feeling for me to be a member of this great club. I hope to give my best,” the excited 20-year-old said.

If Bassey completes his registration this weekend, he may feature in the team’s 7th league game of the season.
