Akwa United striker, Christian Pyagbara, is positive the Promise Keepers are ready to beat Niger Tornadoes in Sunday’s Aiteo Cup final to be played at the Agege Stadium, reports.


Akwa United will arrive Lagos on Friday for the final, after defeating Sunshine Stars 3-2 on aggregate to book their second ever place in the final of the cup competition.


And Pyagbara is upbeat the Akwa Ibom-based club will surpass the odds to carry the day when they clash at the weekend.

“I believe we will do well in Lagos. We have had preparations for this tough match and we look forward to a good start. The morale of the team is high, and we are looking to lift the trophy at Nigeria Tornadoes’ expense.


“We want to bounce back as we failed to win a continental ticket from the league, but now we have a chance and if we win, it will be good for us. We have forgotten already last season”, the former Sharks striker stated.


Akwa United won the 2015 edition after edging Lobi Stars 2-1, witht eight –time winners, Shooting Stars of Ibadan among their victims in this year’s campaign.
