Super Eagles Vice-Captain, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi has confirmed he will be out for about 2-3 weeks after sustaining an injury in Trabzonspor goalless draw away at Kayserispor on Saturday.


Onazi, who was on the field for just 40 minutes, spoke to in an exclusive interview that the results of the scan confirm the injury will rule him out of the Super Eagles’ upcoming games next week.


“The scan result was concluded and it’s a grade ‘A’ injury. If I go to play for the national team, it will only aggravate, so it’s better I have my club take care of it,” Onazi said.


The former Lazio man further revealed that a special doctor has been assigned to him to enable a speedy recovery from the injury.


“A special doctor has been assigned to me and I hope to bounce back after the international break.”


The midfielder also said that he believes the other players invited will not disappoint Nigerians in both games, as he is confident of a fantastic outing from the boys.


“I am confident the team will have a good outing in both games, because we have lots of young and fantastic players that can step-up anytime, any day to deliver; with this, I am confident the guys will give a good account in both games,” Onazi concluded.


Onazi is the third Super Eagles’ player to pullout of the  squad ahead of  the matches against Algeria and Argentina, with Odion Ighalo and Moses Simon also
