Super Eagles’ Coach Gernot Rohr has said that the upcoming friendly against Argentina will serve as an opportunity for the team to see and feel the Russian atmosphere, and also checkout where they would base during the tournament proper next year.

According to him, the friendly against Jorge Sampaoli’s side in Krasnodar will show the world how the Super Eagles will respond against the big countries, and test his team’s true quality against South American opponents.

Speaking exclusively with, the Franco-German tactician hinted that a number of fringe players will feature against the South American powerhouse.

“We will have an opportunity to see everybody in the second game; the second game is fantastic also because Argentina is one of the best teams in the world, perhaps the best player in the world (Lionel Messi) will against us, so we can see what they are able to do against a South American team if we have them in our group in the World Cup.

“It is also an opportunity to see Russia and the atmosphere there and to see perhaps our base camp, so it is already a repeat preparation for the World Cup,” Rohr said.

On Saturday, the Super Eagles will fly aboard a chartered flight to Krasnodar, the Russian city that will host Tuesday’s international friendly against Argentina.
