Nigerian international Henry Onyekuru, scored the winning goal for RSC Anderlecht as they beat Royal Excel Mouscron 2-1 at the Stade Le Canonnier, AOIFootball.com can report.
With Onyekuru back in the starting lineup after international duties, it was the away side which took the lead just few minutes to the break when Belgium striker Massimo Bruno opened scoring to hand Anderlecht the half time initiative.
On resumption of the second half, Mouscron did play themselves back into the game when an individual effort from México midfielder, Omar Govea beat goalkeeper Logan Bailly to equalise.
However, Onyekuru was not to be denied his 7th league goal of the season when he scored the winner 10 minutes from time after exchanging passes with Sofiane Hanni to beat the Mouscron goalkeeper to put Anderlecht 2-1 on the night.
The Nigerian striker was withdrawn with three minutes of normal time left, receiving a standing ovation from the visiting fans while Taiwo Awoniyi was on for all 90 minutes.
The result now leaves Anderlecht third on the table with 28 points from 15 games, 6 points behind leaders Club Brugge who have 34 points, while Mouscron remain 10 on the table with 19 points from 15 games.
Onyekuru and his Anderlecht teammates will now turn their attention to Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich at home, needing at least a point to keep their EUROPA League hopes alive.
