Super Eagles’ Chief Scout, Victor Agali has said Coach Gernot Rohr has the country at heart and is already building the future of the senior national team following his moves to lure young European-bred players of Nigerian descent, can report.

Agali, a former Nigerian international, who was recently named by Rohr as his scout, is sure the future of the national team will be secured if he eventually succeeds in convincing talented European bred Nigerians to play for the country.

“Everyone must understand that Gernot Rohr means well for our football. You need to know what he has put into visiting young and promising footballers of Nigerian descent who have shown potential of greatness in the nearest future. I think it is a commendable effort from the coach. If these players join up with the collection of players we have at home, it will rub off on the quality of our game and players too,” the former OGC Nice of France player posited.

On the argument that the coach is ignoring players in the local league and is on a wild goose chase of those abroad, Agali pointed out that Rohr intends to give every player a chance to feature for the national team, but the quality they possess is key to their invitation.

“I don’t subscribe to the notion that Coach Rohr is biased. I think it is a case of getting the very best of players for the national team and we cannot deceive ourselves into believing that the best players are here in our league. I want to clearly say that the best of players are those Coach Rohr is chasing after and it will tell in the future,” Agali said.

The former Hansa Rostock of Germany goal poacher, who currently boasts of a UEFA B License coaching certificate, further said his report on his recent tour of Germany will be submitted to the coach soon.
