Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen scored his first goal in the new year on Friday afternoon after aiding his VFL Wolfsburg side to a 3-1 win over second division side St.Pauli in a friendly game, AOIFootball.com reports.
St. Pauli took the lead as early as the 5th minute through Waldemar Sobota before Jeffrey Bruma equalised for the Die Wolfe in the 12th minute.
As the half progressed, Martin Schmidt’s men remained the dominant eleven and, with the best move of the first-half, Wolfsburg took a deserved lead: Divock Origi chased down a wonderful forward ball by Riechedly Bazoer on the right wing and picked out Victor Osimhen, who made no mistake in slotting home in the 26 minute.
Osimhen was later subbed off in the 65th minute of the game.
And in the 81st minute, Daniel Didavi provided the decisive winner, heading home a perfect cross from the right by Paul Verhaegh, to make the final score 3-1 for the Green-Whites.
The team currently in Marbella in Spain, will on Saturday, January 6th, play their second and final winter test-friendly in Spain against Dynamo Dresden.
