Super Eagles forward Anthony Okpotu has promised Nigerians that the team will rediscover their goal scoring form ahead of their Group C opener against Rwanda on Monday when proceeding kicks off at the CHAN tournament in Morocco.
The Lobi stars of Makurdi striker who spoke exclusively to from the team’s camp in Morocco said the team is fully motivated ahead of Monday’s opener while also dismissing suggestions that the team lacks the quality players to deliver success after failing to find the net against Cameroon in a warm up game.
“The game against Cameroon was a very good test for us, we trained in Abuja for weeks and we needed to play a very strong team and Cameroon gave us a very good challenge.
We created lots of chances but unfortunately we could not break down their defense line, but those who saw the game will know we have improved as a team and we are fully prepared to lead the nation to success.” he said.
He further posited that he and other attackers in the team are highly motivated to bang in the goals, while promising the team will improve on their stats compared to how they did at the WAFU tournament in Ghana
“The goals will come, we are going to score goals in this tournament that am sure of. I know in Ghana we had a rough start but am confident of a better start come Monday against Rwanda,” Okpotu assured.
The Salisu Yusuf led boys will square up against Rwanda on Monday 15th January at the Grand Stade de Tangier in Tanger, Morocco by 7:30 pm local time.
