Head coach of NPFL champions, Kennedy Boboye wants to start the season with his team Plateau united on a winning note when the make a short trip from Abuja where they have camped for two weeks to Lafia to face Kabiru Dogo’s Nasarawa United at the Lafia City stadium on Sunday as the Nigeria Professional Football League 2017/2018 gets underway this weekend.
The former Nigerian international who spoke to in Abuja where his team has been intensifying preparation ahead of the league opener said winning in Lafia will be a good way to start the league while also positing that he and his players will work to avoid a repeat of what happened to Enugu rangers last season.
“We have been training daily and I believe my team is fully prepared for the first game of the season. Hopefully we can get a positive result in Lafia and begin the season on a high note.”
“I am very cautious of what happened to Enugu Rangers last season and we will be hoping to avoid a repeat because in the last few years teams who have won the league in various countries have gone on to struggle the following season, just take a look at Madrid this season, Boboye added”.
The reigning Nigeria league champions will opening their tittle defence with a tricky trip to Lafia to face the Solid Miners, Nasarawa United on Sunday 14th of January at the Lafia City stadium by 4pm.
