Former international Emmanuel Amuneke continued his impressive start to life in Sudan as his club Al-Khartoum Watani made light work of first division side Shabab Nasri 5 – 1 in a friendly game played on Saturday, can report.
Al-Khartoum, which had won their first two warm up games under the Nigerian’s care, made a blistering start to the match when they took the lead in the 19th minute through midfielder Musa.
With half an hour gone, Watani struck twice in 4 minutes via the boots of Tony (30) and Mustapha (34) to take a commanding 3-0 into the break.
Minutes into the second half, Shabab Nasri scored what will only prove to be a consolation as a late brace from Nigerian Kelechi Nzekwe im the 78th and 90th minute, respectively handed Watani a comprehensive 5-1 scoreline.
After the game, the former Golden Eaglets’ coach admitted his team is almost set for the new season in February.
“I am very pleased with the attitude of my players today and they showed great character in the first half; we are not there yet but we are getting closer,” Amuneke said.
