Super Eagles’ hitman, Kelechi Iheanacho continued his fine form in the English FA Cup when he bagged a brace for Leicester City, which also had Ndidi on target as they brushed aside League One side, Peterborough 5-1, can report.

New boy Diabate, who was signed from French club, Gazelec Ajaccio this month, grabbed the first, latching onto Adrien Silva’s pass before firing home across the face of goal and into the bottom corner before Iheanacho scored his first of the game, curling home around two Peterborough defenders and past Jonathan Bond.

Claude Puel’s side were in cruise control and Iheanacho strengthened their grip on the tie in the 28th minute, meeting Christian Fuchs’ inviting cross to hammer the ball home from close range to score his 9th goal in nine FA Cup appearances.

With nothing to lose, Peterborough came out with renewed vigour for the second half and were handed a lifeline when Hughes bundled home Steven Taylor’s header in the 58th minute.

But they could not make any further inroads into Leicester’s lead, which was extended in the 87th minute through Diabate, who looked to be in an offside position when Demarai Gray’s shot was palmed into his path, but the flag stayed down, allowing the forward to power the ball into the roof of the net.

There was still time for the Premier League side to add a fifth and the impressive Diabate was involved again, cutting the ball back towards the top of the box for substitute Ndidi, who put the finishing touch on Leicester’s afternoon.

Iheanacho, who was on for 80 minutes, will be hoping his fine display will earn him a starting place for the Foxes when they travel to Goodison Park on Wednesday to face Everton in a Premier League fixture.
