NPFL reigning champions, Plateau United got off to a winning start in the CAF Champions League preliminary round, beating visiting Eding Sports 3-0 in Jos, reports.

It was a convincing victory for the Peace Boys, who will now take a commanding lead going into the return leg in a fortnight.

Elijah Ogene put the Jos team in front, underlining Plateau United’s dominance early on.

But it didn’t translate to many goals as Eding Sports held on for much longer, restraining their hosts from breaching them at the half-hour mark.

Plateau United extended the lead through Ingbede Sunday on the 80th minute, while Joshua Obaje added more gloss to the scoreline in the 90th minute, with the third goal of the match.

And with the win, they will now travel to Cameroon needing to avoid a big defeat to go through to the next round.
