Super Eagles’ and Bursaspor of Turkey midfielder, Mikel Agu believes Nigeria has all it takes to upstage the Polish national team next month when both teams clash at the Municipal Stadium in an international friendly, reports.
The on-loan Porto midfielder told exclusively from his base in Turkey that the match against Poland will be a difficult task, but the unity in the squad can spur them to victory.
“It’s going to be a very difficult game because Poland like we know, have good players that play at the biggest stage. On paper, they are obviously the favourites but on the field of play, I am confident we can shock them in their own backyard even though it’s just a friendly game.
“Anything is possible in football. I guess no one ever believed Nigeria will defeat Argentina in that friendly last year, so this is a similar example,” Agu said.
Agu, however, stressed the need for the team to continue with the unity and focus that has made them unbeatable.
“All we need to do is to keep the team spirit positive and to always try to be united as one; when I say united, I mean in general all players should always be involved 100%, from the starting 11 to the undressed players, only this can bring positive results our way,” Mikel Agu concluded.
Nigeria will square up against Poland on March 23 at the Municipal Stadium with tickets expected to cost between 9,700 to 17,000 naira, depending on the category.
