Nigeria international, Junior Ajayi scored the winner when his Egyptian club Al-Ahly moved closer to a record-breaking 40th league title after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Al-Entag Al-Harby, reports.

The former U-23 striker, who has been in fantastic form, scoring 8 goals with a further 9 assists in just 14 league appearances, ensured Al-Ahly is just three points away from retaining the title they won last season.

With the match almost settling for a draw after both teams had canceled out each other in the first half, Ajayi popped up with less than a quarter of an hour to go after firing a thunderous left-foot strike past the goalkeeper to send the home fans into a joyous mood.

The 22-year-old tweeted afterwards, expressing his delight in scoring yet again, while also hinting that he wants to play for Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia.

“I’m happy we won, and happy I got a goal. Up teammates. Up fans. Up @AlAhly #YallaYaAhly #Russia2018#AjayiJnr#hopeandpray#WorkHardPlayHarder#RoadtoFourth”.

A win for Al-Ahly in their next game will confirm them champions in Egypt for a record 40th title.
