Super Eagles’ and Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder, John Ogochukwu Ogu believes the upcoming friendly against European giants Poland is an opportunity for the team to prove how strong they are, as they prepare to take on the world in Russia.
The hard-tackling midfielder, who spoke to exclusively from his base in Israel, said the Eagles must prove to the world that the 4-2 spanking of Argentina was not a fluke and that they can stand against any team irrespective of the calibre of players paraded.
He said: “The game against Poland is obviously a big test for all of us; we have shown quality and commitment in our recent games, especially against a solid Argentina team.
“So, for me, I believe we must approach all our friendly games the right way to help build a strong bond ahead of the World Cup proper.”
The former Académica player further posited that the competition in the midfield department will help strengthen the team on all fronts.
“I think on both sides, we have to work more. We already know what the coach wants because we have been working together with him for a while now and the chemistry among us is good.
“It won’t be an easy game for sure but It’s a big test for us towards the World Cup and we are ready for the challenge ,” Ogu concluded.
Nigeria will take on Poland in a grade A friendly match at Stadion Miejski in Wroclaw Poland on March 23. Kickoff is 20:45 GMT.
