Bursaspor of Turkey midfielder, Mikel Agu was left a disappointed man after his side fell 2-1 to relegation-threatened Osmanlispor, with Rio 2016 bronze medalist, Umar Aminu among the scorers for the home team.

Agu, who lined up in the defensive midfield role alongside fellow Nigerian Abdullahi Shehu in a 4-2-3-1 formation, told exclusively after the game that poor set piece marking cost them all three points.

“The feeling was bad because that was obviously not the result we wanted. Osmanlispor is fighting to leave the relegation zone and we are also fighting to stay in a perfect position and finish the season on a high.

“From my point of view, they were not better than us but we were poor with our set-piece defending and they punished us by scoring both goals from set pieces,” Agu stated.

The midfielder further posited that he and his teammates will bounce back and fight until the end of the season to ensure they finish in a modest position.

“We must move beyond Saturday’s result and look forward to our next match. We will keep fighting,” Agu concluded.

Mikel Agu has featured 18 times for the green and white outfit this season, scoring three times and has two assists to his name. The midfielder also averages a passing accuracy of 84% per game while winning 54% of his duels contested.
