The management of Sunshine Stars FC of Akure have sacked Coach Duke Udi from his job as the Chief coach of the club, with immediate effect, with former Coach Henry Abiodun taking over the team, AOIFootball.com reports.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Mr Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, which was made available on Tuesday in Akure, Coach Udi was relieved of his job due to insubordination and gross misconduct.
The Commissioner noted that the management board of the club and the ministry decided to part ways with the coach after a consultative joint meeting.
Coach Udi guided the Akure Gunners through twelve matches, managing just four wins, four draws, and four losses and earning 17th on the log with 13 points.
AOIFootball.com had reported on Monday about the possible sack of some struggling coaches in the NPFL, with Coach John Obuh getting the axe on Monday by Kwara United. Duke Udi, as it seems, is now the second casualty of that report.
