Enyimba of Aba Head Coach Paul Aigbogun has posited his side will go into their 2nd leg CAF Confederations Cup first round tie against Energie FC of Benin with caution, despite holding a healthy 2-0 lead going into the clash.
Aigbogun, who also doubles as the Head Coach of the Flying Eagles, told in Abuja, that they must not approach the game lackadaisically while insisting it’s too early to judge if Enyimba is favourites to land their maiden CAF Confederations Cup title.
“I know we are favourites to go through after winning the first leg in Cotonou, but if you watch the match, you will see that Energie are a very young and exciting team. So, we have to approach the game with utmost respect and that it is like 0-0,” Aigbogun said.
Aigbogun also played down suggestions that his side are favourites for the cup insisting it’s still early days.
“It’s too early to say because 8 teams from the CAF Champions League will join us for the next round, so I will say we must just take it game by game, but I am confident we can go far in the competition,” Aigbogun concluded.
The match will be played on Sunday in Calabar, with the winner advancing to the final round of qualifiers.
