Super Eagles’ striker, Odion Jude Ighalo scored his first goal of the season in the Chinese Super League on Sunday when he helped secure a point for Changchun Yatai, AOIFootball.com reports.
Ighalo and his teammates, who were still recovering from a 5-0 bashing suffered last week in the hands of champions Guangzhou Evergrande, fell behind after just 29 minutes when Gang Wang put Beijing Renhe one goal up.
The former Watford of England striker who was the reason his side remained in the CSL last season, scored the equalizer four minutes to half time after reacting quickest to a loose ball from goalkeeper Lie Zhang.
The goal was however delayed with the referee consulting the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to see if Ighalo had forced the ball out of the goalkeeper’s hand. The goal was however awarded correctly to the Nigerian to mark his first goal of the season.
Odion Ighalo will now hope to replicate the same form for the Eagles when the international window begins with a date against Poland and Serbia on the cards.
