New Super Eagles’ invitee, Stephen Eze has said he believes he has what it takes to make the final 23-man list that will represent Nigeria at the world cup in Russia.

The former Kano Pillars’ defender, who deservedly got his first call-up to the senior team after a series of impressive displays with the Home- Based Eagles, told exclusively that he is elated to be part of the main national team.

“First of all, I want to say a very big thank you to God Almighty for making this invitation a reality, because it’s something I have always wished and prayed for.

“I have been expecting something like this for a very long time and I thank God I am among the players for the game against Poland and Serbia. Hopefully, I will get a chance to play and prove my worth,” Eze said.

The Lokomotiv Plovdiv of Bulgaria defender further said that he is not scared of rubbing shoulders with the big boys and wants to fight for a regular place in the team.

“I know we have great defenders on the team and it will be very difficult to upstage any of them, but I am focused and determined. If given the chance, I can prove myself to the coaches.

“I just want to use this medium to say thank you to the coaches and everyone for believing in me,” Stephen Eze concluded.

The tall lanky defender will be hoping to make his first official appearance for the national team when Nigeria takes on Poland and Serbia later this month.
