Super Eagles’ captain, John Obi Mikel was at his best as he helped set up two goals for his Chinese club, Tianjin Teda when they beat Tianjin Quanjian in a local derby, 3-2, reports.

Teda were in search of their first win of the season and drew first blood after just 16 minutes when Mikel setup Ghanaian Frank Acheampong to put the home team ahead.

The second half started with the away side mounting the pressure when Mikel’s former teammate Alexandre Pato equalized after 54 minutes before an Anthony Modeste strike in the 78th minute put the away side 2-1 up.

With yet another defeat staring at the face of Mikel and his teammates, the Eagles’ captain combined with Acheampong again as Teda found the equalizer on the 84th minute before the Ghanaian completed his hat-trick with a well-taken goal on the stroke of 90 minutes to earn Tianjin Teda all three points.

Mikel was on for all 90 minutes and had a game rating of 8.2, created two assists, while also completing 86% of his passes. He also won 7 duels and made 4 key passes. He also brought his defensive powers to show as he made 2 clearances, 4 interceptions, and 4 tackles.

The Eagles captain will now shift his attention to Nigeria’s next two friendlies against Poland and Serbia in Wroclaw and London, respectively.
