With the reality staring the Super Eagles players in the face that their dear captain and leader, Mikel John Obi is poised to miss the international friendly against the ‘Red and White’ of Poland on Friday, Hapoel Be’er Sheva central midfielder, John Ugochukwu Ogu has declared he is ready to start for the team.
The midfielder, who has shone in the team’s last two games against Algeria where he scored a fabulous goal and the friendly against Argentina last November, told AOIFootball.com that he is ready, if given a chance to start in the middle of the park, whilst also clearly stating that the Eagles will miss their captain, Mikel Obi’s quality.
“I am always ready to start if the coach calls on me. Of course, we will miss the quality of our captain. He brings a lot to the group. The coach has psyched us up and we all know the importance of the game,” he said.
The former Academica De Coimbra midfielder, however, promised that the team is ready to win despite the absence of their inspirational captain.
