Super Eagles’ gaffer, Gernot Rohr is set to hand a debut start to Deportivo LA Coruna shot-stopper Francis Uzoho, when Nigeria tests its might against European heavyweights Poland in an international friendly on Friday, AOIFootball.com reports.
Uzoho, whose previous appearance was a 45- minute commanding display against Argentina last November, got the nod ahead of regular number one Ikechukwu Ezenwa who has only featured once since his injury in the semifinals of the CHAN tournament in Morocco earlier this year.
Similarly, Amkar Perm of Russia left-back Brian Idowu could also start his first game for the Super Eagles ahead of long-serving left-back Elderson Echiejile, with Rohr opting for more mobility on the flanks with the Polish team expected to play a 3-man backline.
With the absence of Captain John Obi Mikel, Kelechi Iheanacho could fill the creative midfield role ahead of returnee Joel Obi, with stand-in captain Ogenyi Onazi and Wilfred Ndidi supporting from behind.
Nigeria probable XI: Uzoho, Shehu, Balogun, Ekong, Idowu, Onazi(C), Ndidi, Iheanacho, Victor Moses, Iwobi and Ighalo.
