Super Eagles line up versus Serbia

Super Eagles players who were part of the two international preparatory friendly matches against Poland and Serbia, may have returned to their various bases in Europe and Asia with mixed feelings following their surprise win over 6th rated Poland and a shock 2-0 loss to 38th placed Serbia.

What will, however, be uppermost in their minds as they depart to their various clubs, is the coach’s 35-man provisional list which is expected to be submitted latest on the 14th May. gathered that the conversations most Eagles’ players had amongst themselves and individually as they departed the city of London, was basically the need to work harder to ensure the team rises from its morale-dampening loss to Serbia, and also to ensure they all feature in the Franco- German’s list come May.

A source close to the team that should know, explained that the players, including those who think they are guaranteed a place in Rohr’s squad, have come to the reality that they need to work harder to secure their spaces on the plane to Russia as the no-nonsense former Burkina Faso coach’s body language indicates he can ring last minute changes depending on their performances at their various clubs.

Coach Rohr has even shown he is not very comfortable with some of the team’s department, especially as it concerns quality backups to the starting 11 and he may give one or two more new players a chance in the remaining three games before the team’s opening encounter against Croatia.

The Franco-German has his work cut out, and the players know that improved and consistent performances from them all will be vital while, some pundits believe there will still be gate crashers as the countdown begins.

More is left to be seen as these players return from international duties to their various clubs.
