*Backs Ideye to make World Cup list

Former Super Eagles’ winger, Tijani Babangida, has called Coach Gernot Rohr to look inward for experience ahead of the world cup if the team is to survive a very tough group in Russia later in June.

Tijani told exclusively, that with what he has seen of the current squad, they need more experienced hands to support the likes of Mikel and Ighalo in the team.

“I believe Rohr has seen his players both in the qualifiers, friendlies and in their various clubs and knows what their current form looks like. He should pick the best who can give us results today and not players who gave us yesterday.

“He has time to choose the right players that will represent us in Russia. Like Ighalo struggles when Mikel is not around because most of the goals are from long balls from the midfield. The coach has seen the last game and I’m sure he did not like the outcome,” Tijani said.

The former Ajax Amsterdam attacker, further laid a stake for on-loan Malaga striker, Brown Ideye, saying he believes he can add bite to the Eagles’ attack.

“I have seen Ideye play many times. He’s strong and experienced as well. We can’t always depend on Mikel because a good sub like Ideye can come in and make the difference, but that his just my opinion,” Babangida concluded.

Rohr is expected to make public his provisional 35-man list for the World Cup, with one or two new faces expected to make the cut.
