The Super Eagles of Nigeria have moved up five places from 52nd to 47 in the latest FIFA world rankings realized on Thursday, AOIFootball.com reports.
The Eagles, which featured in two pre-world cup preparatory games during the last FIFA window against Poland and Serbia, are now ranked as the sixth best nation on the continent behind Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, and Senegal.
However, the country’s group opponents at the FIFA World Cup in June all dropped after not too convincing performances last month.
Two- time world champions Argentina dropped one spot to fifth, while Croatia dropped three places to 18th and Iceland dropped down to 22nd position.
World Cup holders Germany remain number one, with Brazil in second, Belgium third, Portugal are in fourth and Argentina fifth.
Switzerland is sixth, France seventh, Spain eight, Chile ninth and Poland dropped to tenth after losing to Nigeria.
