It was a fantastic night for Nigerian players on parade in the Belgian Playoffs 2B with both Joseph Akpala and Chuba Akpom scoring for their respective teams.
Joseph Akpala came off the bench to salvage a point for KV Oostende as they played out their fourth consecutive draw against KSC Lokeren. The game ended 2-2.
With his side 2-1 down, Akpala was introduced with nine minutes of regulation time left for Zinho Gano and scored with his first touch 40 seconds later to salvage a point for Oostende.
The goal was Akpala’ s 8th of the season.
Similarly, Arsenal loanee, Chuba Akpom continued his good stint in the Belgian League when he scored in Sint-Truidense’s 3-1 bashing of KFCO Beerschol in the playoffs.
Akpala had put his side two goals when he converted from twelve yards, seven minutes into the second half, with a late strike from Babacar Gueye completing the trouncing.
The goal was Akpala’s third since joining on loan in the last winter transfer market.
Also, Uche Agbo saw 22 minutes of action as Standard Liege kept their hopes of a European football next season alive with a 2-1 win over Anderlecht, with Onyekuru missing after just only returning to first team.
