Super Eagles’ vice-captain, Eddie Ogenyi Onazi has returned to full training following a hamstring injury suffered against Kayserispor a fortnight ago and is now keen on working hard to end the season on a high with Trabzonspor.

The former Lazio midfielder, who spoke to exclusively shortly after his team’s training session on Thursday, said he’s happy to be back and wants to approach the remainder of the season with caution.

“Obviously, I feel excited to be back. I already started training with the team today ahead of Saturday’s game. The coach wants me to start the game but I’m taking my time, so I told him, no rush,” Onazi said.

With his team 5th on the Turkish Super Liga, Onazi, however, remained calm on their European chances, insisting anything can happen before the end of the season.

“Playing in Europe next season will obviously be a massive one for everybody in the club, but with five games left and 11 points behind 4th placed Fernabahce, we know it’s now beyond us. But we are hopeful a miracle can happen,” Onazi concluded.

The versatile midfielder has featured in 18 games this season for Trabzonspor, starting in 15 of them and scoring twice in the process.

He has an average rating of 6.9, completing 82% of his passes, creating 5 big chances, winning an average of 2 tackles per game and has not committed a single error leading to goal all season.
