Odion Ighalo against Poland

After a massive goal haul on Saturday in the Chinese Super League, Super Eagles and Changchun Yatai striker, Odion Ighalo hopes he can replicate the same form for the national team at the World Cup.

The Eagles’ forward, who netted a double brace in Yatai’s 5-2 thumping of Guizhou Hengfeng, told exclusively after the game that success with the national team remains top priority to him.

“It’s always a nice feeling to score a goal, but when you score four, then the feeling is obviously out of this world. I am happy with my all-round performance and I hope to continue in this form. But I must also thank my teammates who made the work look easy for me.

“Doing this for the national team has always been my dream; hopefully, I can carry this exploit to the Super Eagles. But I believe goals-scoring will not be our problem going before and during the World Cup,” Ighalo said.

This was the second time Ighalo scored four goals in a single match after replicating the same feat with Watford against Blackpool in the English Championship in the 2014/2015 season.
