Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has thrown his support behind the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they bid for glory in this month’s FIFA World Cup in Russia, AOIFootball.com reports.
Bello, who spoke ahead of the Eagles’ friendly against England on Saturday, further urged the team to send a statement to the world by upsetting their host at their own backyard.
“I believe it’s time for Nigeria to take its rightful place in world soccer. We have a very good squad with what I have seen in them and I believe they can go to Russia and do the country proud.
“The entire people of Kogi are solidly behind them and we want to wish them all the best in Russia,” Bello concluded.
The Super Eagles will take on England on Saturday before engaging Austria four days later in their final World Cup preparatory game.
