Former Super Eagles’ captain, Nwankwo Kanu has tipped Nigeria to succeed at the FIFA World cup in Russia, positing that the Gernot Rohr-led boys will shock the football world and indeed pundits, AOIFootball.com reports.
The former African Footballer of the Year award winner told the UK Mirror after an exhibition game in Kaliningrad Russia, that the Eagles are primed for success and he has total confidence in the ability of the current squad.
“The FIFA World Cup is the greatest football tournament on the planet; every team dreams of being part of it and I am sure it will be a very special event in Russia for every team participating in it.
“For Nigeria, I know we are in a very difficult and trickish group but we will be a big surprise, for sure,” Kabu said.
Meanwhile, Police in Russia has arrested two suspects connected to the incident that led to the former Arsenal star being robbed of his money and other valuables on arrival at the airport after reports revealed about $11,000 was taken away from his luggage.
