John Ogu against England

Super Eagles’ midfielder, John Ogochukwu Ogu has said the team’s last pre-World Cup fixture against the Czech Republic would be a much better outing compared to their last two fixtures against DR Congo and England.

Ogu, who spoke exclusively to from the team’s training base in Austria, noted that all players have been working effortlessly round the clock to ensure they perfect their strategies ahead of the important clash in Austria.

“We know Nigerians are expecting the best from us; it won’t be an easy game but we are working hard here. The manager and staff members are doing all to put us in the best shape and I am confident we will put up a better outing than our previous games,” Ogu noted.

When quizzed if wearing the number 19 Jersey at the World Cup could bring luck to him, the Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder said playing well will determine how lucky the number his to him.

“I don’t think of such. I just want to play football and play well to win, then we will see if it’s a lucky number or not,” Ogu concluded.

Nigeria heads into the clash hoping to halt a three-game winless run, whilst Czech will want to bounce back from their disappointing 4-0 loss suffered last week at the hands of Australia.

The match will take place at the Schwechat Stadium by 2pm Nigerian time.
