Super Eagles’ defender, Tyronne Ebuehi has asked Nigerians to support the team as they aim for glory at the 2018 FIFA World Cup which kicks off today (Thursday), reports.

Ebuehi, who is optimistic about the chances of Nigeria at the tournament, clamoured for the unrelenting support of Nigerian fans both in Russia and back home, saying it would motivate the team to success.

“I am very proud of course, to be part of the team; it has always been my dream to play at the World Cup, so now that I’m here, I will just give my all and ensure the country comes out successful at the end.

“We know the fans expect so much from us back home after our not too impressive friendly games; though the world cup will be a difficult tournament for all teams, we just want to urge them to keep believing and supporting us all the way,” Ebuehi said.

When quizzed about his rivalry for the right-back position with Turkey-based Abdullahi Shehu, the former Ado Den Haag player noted that every player is as important as the next person in the starting XI.

The defender has however warmed his way into the heart of Nigerian football fans in recent weeks after his impressive displays in high-profile friendly matches for the Super Eagles.

The new Benfica of Portugal defender further said that he’s proud to have chosen to play for the Super Eagles as he has been welcomed with open arms since he switched nationality to Nigeria from The Netherlands.
